#1

Hi, just to catch you up of why I've decided to start this blog. In the fall of 2006 my ex and I found out our first born had autism. As a proud dad that was serving in the navy, this news hit me pretty hard.  There were and still are so many unknowns with a child that carries this diagnosis. Knowing how important a father is to his son and viseversa I knew I had to step up to the plate. My very first action taken was to scour the internet for as much valid information as i could find. I stuffed a 1" binder full of  data that all lead me to one thing. No one knows anything. The spectrum of autism is so vast. The only way I'd get to know where my son fit on the spectrum was to wait and watch him grow. It's not the easiest method when you want to "fix" whatever is wrong with your son, but I'll share this, it sure is fun. I am blessed that he falls under the "high functioning end" of the spectrum. What that does though is create a whole other set of hurdles. Those hurdles and more are what I'll be getting into in a bit.
Right now I just started writing a kids book for my two boys. The theme? A zombie boy that likes to run.

Thanks for taking the time to check this out.

  1. Hey - right after I sent you the FB msg. I followed this link - so you have at least one follower....Hope you enjoy your blogging!
Funny that you are writing a kids book and I've been working on the same thing for some time - mine are a series about a little girl called "bug" - her nickname. They are - I hope - insightful, whimsical books that teach faith based lessons without trying too hard. -Jenein
